Refurbishment Process
Many foeders that leave the old cellars of Europe have been in use for quite some time. The flavor profiles run deep into the wood and often times the tank must undergo a refurbishment process to bring it back to life and become usable again.
We work with several cooperages who have mastered this process. Below are a few examples of a 20HL foeder getting a full exterior sanding, new head, staves replaced (if necessary) and all new stainless hardware. It will then be sealed, swelled and pressure tested prior to shipment to ensure fillability.
